Do you like to stay active? Do you enjoy learning how the human body works? With a BA Minor in Kinesiology, you’ll explore how physical movement enhances every aspect of life.

You’ll learn about health, wellness, fitness and performance. And you’ll look at how sports and exercise are the foundation of a healthy lifestyle and greater life satisfaction.

A minor in Kinesiology gives you the option to work in:

  • education
  • occupational rehabilitation
  • physical therapy
  • athletic training

This minor can also lead to rewarding graduate studies.

The Kinesiology (BA) Program

Kinesiology is the art and science of human movement, and at VIU, a minor in Kinesiology will provide students with knowledge, skills, and experiences to support their pursuit of careers in education, rehabilitation sciences (occupational therapy, physical therapy) coaching, personal training, sports administration, and outdoor leadership.

Students will explore the foundations of exercise science, physical and mental health and wellness, and will learn essential skills to improve their quality of life through physical activity, healthy eating, and mindfulness. The program provides a broad foundation for careers in the field of kinesiology and exposes students to diverse learning environments and applied experiences including lectures, labs, activity classes, online learning, and applied research.

Students interested in completing the Kinesiology Minor are required to consult with the Chair of Kinesiology to discuss the program requirements.
